Cookie Policy
Short version: we set no analytics cookies unless you say yes, and you can change your mind any time.
Last updated: 16 July 2026
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Some are essential to make a site work; others — like analytics cookies — are optional and legally require your consent in the UK.
How consent works on this site
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you're happy with analytics. Until you actively accept, the analytics tools below are not loaded at all — not muted, not anonymised: absent. If you choose "Essential only", the site works identically; we just see less about how it's used. Your choice is remembered for 12 months, then we ask again.
Change your mind any time: (also in the footer of every page). If you switch from yes to no, we delete the analytics cookies and reload the page so tracking genuinely stops.
Strictly necessary storage (no consent needed)
- otium-consent-v1 (localStorage, kept 12 months) — remembers your cookie choice itself. Ironically essential.
Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
Google Analytics 4 — anonymous statistics about visits and pages:
- _ga — distinguishes visitors (expires after 13 months)
- _ga_* — keeps session state (expires after 13 months)
Microsoft Clarity — anonymised session recordings and heatmaps that show us how pages are used:
- _clck — Clarity user identifier (expires after 12 months)
- _clsk — connects page views within one session (expires after 1 day)
What we don't use
No advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers, no social media pixels, no selling of data — to anyone, ever. The free scan on this site works with no cookies and no personal data at all.
Browser controls
Beyond our banner, every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking analytics cookies has no effect on how this site works for you.
More detail
How we handle personal data generally — including the optional scan email and our paid services — is covered in our Privacy Policy. Questions: hello@otiumlab.com.
